History of IICP College
Institute of Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy (IICP)
The Institute of Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy (IICP) was founded in 2003 to provide high‑quality training for those seeking professional and academic qualifications in counselling and psychotherapy. Rooted in a multicultural and pluralistic philosophy, its programmes draw on humanistic, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and multicultural counselling and therapy.
The Institute was intentionally located in Killinarden, Tallaght, reflecting a commitment to community‑based education and accessible mental health support. IICP sought to address the social and economic challenges affecting local communities, especially during the Celtic Tiger boom and subsequent economic recession, as well as the COVID-19 crisis and beyond.
The College began by offering only a Professional Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy, but over the years, the course offerings have steadily grown to include two master’s degrees, a BSc (Hons) and a variety of short courses and CPDs. These changes and additions reflect the evolving world of counselling and psychotherapy, as well as new interests and challenges in the field.
IICP College strives to be a leader in integrative therapeutic training, preparing our students for careers in the helping professions and equipping them to face the challenges of an evolving profession and a changing world.
