History of IICP
Institute of Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy (IICP)
The Institute of Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy (IICP), founded in 2003 to provide high‑quality training for those seeking professional and academic qualifications in counselling and psychotherapy. Rooted in a multicultural and pluralistic philosophy, IICP’s programmes draw on Humanistic, CBT, and Multicultural Counselling and Therapy.
The Institute was intentionally located in Killinarden, Tallaght, reflecting a commitment to community‑based education and accessible mental health support. IICP sought to respond to the social and economic challenges affecting local communities, especially during both the Celtic Tiger boom, the later economic recession, the COVID-19 emergency, and beyond.
The college began with just offering a Professional Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy and over the years the course offerings has steadily grown to offer two Masters, a BSc (Hons) and a variety of short courses and CPDs. These changes and additions reflect the evolving world of counselling and psychotherapy, and new interests and challenges in the field.
IICP College strives to be a leader in integrative therapeutic training and prepare our students for a career in the helping professions and the challenges of an evolving profession and changing world.
