Introduction

This online introductory workshop aims to demystify the role of research in psychotherapy by exploring:

  • Why research matters for psychotherapy training and practice
  • How to begin engaging with research in a straightforward and accessible way
  • How and where to find relevant research
  • How those returning to education or engaging for the first time can move from anxiety and uncertainty to curiosity and confidence about research

  • Those interested in and looking to gain an introductory insight into research
Content

This workshop will address the how and why of research in psychotherapy with a specific focus on:

  • How to find and recognise appropriate academic sources and literature
  • Relevant research databases to consult
  • Using key words to find relevant literature
  • Referencing
  • Why we engage in research within counselling/psychotherapy
