Overview
Introduction
This one-day workshop introduces Body Psychotherapy and Somatic Approaches to participants, and provides the opportunity for students and qualified psychotherapists to increase their knowledge and understanding of the role of the Body in psychotherapy. It will consist of a mix of lecture style, group work, case discussion and experiential exercises and will be suitable for anyone who would like to gain skills to incorporate body & somatic intervention in the therapy room, as well as gaining understanding relating to trauma and the body, and how to stay working safely and with boundaries as a psychotherapist. (This workshop is introductory and is not a Somatic Psychotherapy Training Course). We will cover:

- Understanding Trauma & the impact on the Body
- The role of the body in Healing Client Issues
- Interventions for the Psychotherapist
- Experiential Practice in Body & Somatic Connection

Expert Programme Facilitator
Wendy Crampton
Wendy Crampton is an experienced psychotherapist and supervisor. She specialises in childhood developmental trauma and the use of the body and somatics in therapy and healing. She offers a holistic therapeutic approach to clients and is also trained in trauma release breathwork, craniosacral therapy, transforming touch, nervous system regulation and transpersonal practices, including meditation and mindfulness. She has experience in a variety of settings as a psychotherapist, including employee assistance programmes (EAPs), Pieta House and in psychiatric and community settings. She currently works in private practice.
Wendy also runs group workshops in experiential personal development and wellbeing, integrating breathwork, body movement, psychological approaches, and meditation and mindfulness practices for individuals who wish to work in a transformational, somatic and transpersonal way in their own personal healing or to gain a deeper perspective and develop skills as a psychotherapist.
