Marcella Finnerty, Programme Director
M.Sc. MIACP, MIAHIP, ICP, MEART. Postgraduate Diploma Clinical Supervision (Psychology).
Marcella has been involved in the area of Adult Education, Guidance and Counselling for over eighteen years and is Programme Director with IICP Education and Training Limited, Killinarden, Tallaght, Dublin 24.
She is formerly Joint Deputy Director of the Masters in Educational Guidance and Counselling programme at Trinity College, Dublin. She lectured on the Developmental Psychology, Counselling Skills and Adult Education and Lifelong Learning modules, in addition to supervising thesis.
Marcella is an Advanced Instructor with The William Glasser Institute. Marcella is also chair of the Board of Management of the Village Counselling Service.
Ann Frey, Programme Leader and Module Tutor
M.Sc. (Clinical Supervision), B.Sc. (Counselling and Psychotherapy), Advanced Diploma in Supervision, MIACP and Accredited Supervisor, MWGII and Basic Practicum Supervisor with the William Glasser Institute, Consultant Counsellor to the Anti-Bullying Centre, School of Education, Trinity College, Dublin.
Ann has worked in the area of Adult Education and Counselling for more than twenty years.
She provides workshops to organisations around the country on various themes. Ann is a Programme Leader and Module Tutor with IICP Education and Training.
Padraig O'Morain, Senior teaching Staff and Module Tutor
M.A. (Creative Writing), B.Sc. (Hon. Psychology), MIACP and Supervisor, MWGII, Diploma in Counselling, Graduate Member of British Psychological Society. Padraig O’Morain is a counsellor, supervisor, trainer, writer, poet and journalist who writes and speaks on psychology and on how people can apply its lessons at work and in their personal lives.
His columns on mental health issues appear in The Irish Times and the Irish Medical News. He has a master’s degree in creative writing and a degree in psychology, a Diploma in Counselling and has completed the Certification process in Choice Theory, Reality Therapy and Quality Management.
Padraig is a member of the board of management of the Village Counselling Service and has clinical responsibility for the governance of the service. Padraig provides workshops nationwide on the practice of mindfulness in daily living.
Caitriona Kearns Registrar and Module Tutor

B.Sc. Counselling and Psychotherapy, Dip. Addiction Studies, MIACP, MCThA, MWGII. Caitriona is a former full time counsellor with the HSE.
She has worked in the field of Substance Misuse since 2001 and has professional experience in residential drug treatment and community based drug projects.
Her teaching experience includes guest lecturing on the MSC and Diploma in Rehabilitation Studies at UCD and Diploma in Drug and Alcohol studies UL.
She is registrar and programme leader on the Certificate in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Studies Programme and a module tutor on the Diploma and BA (Hons) Degree in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy programmes.
Dermot O'Neill, Module Tutor
B.A., B.D., L.Ph., Basic Week Instructor and Practicum Supervisor WGII. Dermot works in private practice as a counsellor, supervisor, trainer and facilitator.
He teaches at Waterford Institute of Technology and is a senior faculty member with the William Glasser Institute Ireland. Dermot enjoys promoting choice theory philosophy as a way of enhancing daily living and relationships.
Dermot is a programme leader and module tutor on Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy Programme.
Dr. Eileen Doyle, Module Tutor
NT, BA, MA, Med, HDE, Dip. Mediation, PhD, former Deputy Director of the MSc and Med in Educational Guidance and Counselling at Trinity College Dublin.
Formerly a qualified, accredited counsellor, MBTI trainer, teacher, career coach and mediator, she was a fulltime lecturer at the Education Department, NUIM and extern examiner in a number of universities and Institutes of Technology.
A former part-time lecturer in NCAD, from 1991 to 2011 she has taught part-time in Trinity College Dublin in management, education and counselling and is a published researcher in education management, Multiple Intelligences, resilience etc. Dr. Eileen Doyle has a special interest in teaching seminars in the areas of positive psychology and in particular, motivation and well-being.
Dr. Fergus Heffernan, Module Tutor
PhD Psychology, MSc Counselling Psychology and Family Therapies. Member Associations of Family Therapists, IOC, IIPT. Fergus has spent much of the past 33 years working with the Irish Defence Forces, the United Nations and NATO based in New York.
He has worked with soldiers and their families in Theatre of War locations from Afghanistan, to Iraq, from Central Africa to East Timor, from The Balkans to the Middle East. He is a visiting lecturer and Workshop Director in Trinity College Dublin, Columbia University New York, and Boston University USA.
Professor Michael O'Rourke, Module Tutor
MA, Med, PhD, CMIGC, HDE, School of Education Trinity College Dublin. Former Course Director on the Masters in Guidance Counselling Programme at TCD and Visiting Professor, University of Indiana, South Bend, UISB.
Michael is a module tutor on Diploma and BA (Hons) Degree in integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy Programmes at IICP. His interests are in the areas of the Bereavement, Loss and Grief and Spirituality and Counselling.
Chris A. Murphy, Module Tutor
M.Sc., MIACP and Supervisor, MIAAAC and Supervisor, MWGII and Adv. Supervisor. Chris Murphy is the director of alcohol services for Crosscare in Ireland. Chris also works in private practice as a counsellor, supervisor, trainer and consultant.
Chris is a faculty member of the William Glasser Institute and is a long serving and founding member of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. Chris is involved in the accreditation committee with IACP. Chris teaches on the supervision courses at IICP.
Eamon McElwee, Module Tutor
BA, MA, MPS, H.Dip.Ed, MIACP, MIITD Eamon McElwee is an accredited counsellor and accredited counselling supervisor. He has been counselling individuals and couples at the Skerries Surgery since 1997. He trained in counselling in the US and was awarded Masters degrees with First Class Honours from Fordham University, New York and Loyola University, Chicago.
Eamon was formerly Head of Training for Accord Marriage Counselling Service, and Director of Training in the Dundalk Counselling Centre. In addition to his work at the Skerries Surgery, he formerly lectured on group-work and counselling at Trinity College and at CITI, Churchtown.
Eamon is the module tutor of the Group Therapy Module on the BA (Hons) Degree in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy at IICP.
Bernie McLoughlin, Module Tutor
Dip. Counselling and Psychotherapy, Reality Therapy Certified, Certificate in Play Therapy, Certificate in Integrative Supervision, MIACP. Bernie has worked in adult education for the last ten years.
She also works in private practice as a counsellor and trainer. Bernie has a special interest in the area of adoption and has trained with Barnados. Bernie is a module tutor on the Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Studies at IICP.
Rose Swaine, Module Tutor
BA Counselling and Psychotherapy, Dip. Counselling and Psychotherapy, Certificate in Integrative Supervision, MIACP. Rose has worked in adult education for the last 10 years.
Rose teaches personal development at IICP and in An Cosan in Tallaght. Rose works in private practice as a counsellor and trainer. Rose is a module tutor on the Certificate in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Studies at IICP.
